Sometimes having fabulous hair can be a real struggle… Between pollution attacking the hair to it all falling out from stress - it seems like a long, long winding road to the perfect Pantene mane…Or Herbal Essence… Whatever advertising campaign wooed you best.

Well, I’ve found a few tips that have helped my hair get shinier, stronger AND longer - granted, it still looks the same length as always but that’s because my hairdresser ROBBED ME of my locks last time I was there… (Damn that scissor-happy hairdresser)!

So here we go:

  • DON’T USE HEAT TO STYLE YOUR HAIR!!!!
It is severely damaging! Practically frying your hair will turn soft locks into straw, guaranteed! If you MUST style your hair with heated equipment, use a heat-protective serum or spray (or at the VERY least, some leave in conditioner) on your hair first. Or, if its a blow-dryer you’re using, always hold the equipment 6 inches away from your hair. Burnt hair not only looks bad, but smells bad too.
  • Pamper your hair!
It deserves a little luxury every now and then. Just as you feel better after a good massage and facial, so your hair feels stronger and softer when you pamper it! Every 1-2 weeks, massage a hair-mask or treatment into your scalp and comb through to the ends.
One of my favourites is the VO5 hot oil treatment. It only takes 2 minutes and you can get 3 tubes of it for around $5AU! Bonus! However, if you’re saving your pennies for the proverbial rainy day, all you need is an avocado and some oil. Mush up one avocado until smooth, stir in a tablespoon of oil until mixed, and voila! A nourishing ‘au naturale’ mask for your hair.
  • Play nice!
Treat your hair as you would want to be treated- like a lady. That means be gentle with it! No vigorous rubbing with a towel or dragging a bristle brush through tangles…ow? If its hurting YOU, its PROBABLY hurting your hair! Stoooop!! Somebody help!
Step in, SuperSwan! When drying your hair, take it slow. Blot your hair with the towel, pat your hair gently or roll it between towel ends. Do not rub your hair. It will make your hair look like Tina Turner’s… and not in a good way. It also causes major tangles and breakages! How can you hair be luxurious and soft if it’s broken?
When your hair is wet, it’s at it’s most delicate. Don’t even brush it, it could far too easily cause tears and breakages in else-wise healthy hair! Leave it until its dry or, if you’re desperate, use a wide tooth comb to smooth out the tangles. Leave in conditioner helps with this too as it softens the hair, making it easier to comb through.
  • Vitality through vitamins!
They always tell you to keep up with your vitamins and minerals… and its not always so that you can have a (boring) healthy insides! Vitamins A & E help strengthen hair (and nails and skin!), along with zinc, and can seriously boost your hairs health! The easiest source of these would be in carrots, seafood and meat. Yum. Yet another reason why eating a healthy balances diet can rock your world. Win!

Soooooo smooth. So fresh, so clean- ahh!
5 days in of my every-morning-every-night 3 step routine, and I’m completely in love.
I want to take my routine out to dinner and talk about life.
I want to walk along the bech with my routine and hold hands until the sun comes up.
I want to spend the rest of my life with my routine and have lots of baby routines!

Seriously. Two more days and my test is over, but at this rate I’ll be keeping it up for.ev.er!

It’s [beauty] a kind of radiance. People who possess a true inner beauty, their eyes are a little brighter, their skin a little more dewy. They vibrate at a different frequency.

Still sweating up a storm here, but I’m attempting to do my whole routine every day regardless.

The pimple that was the size of a (large) planet has gone down. I didn’t pick it, which is probably a good thing  (as if you pick a spot, even if it makes you feel good, its only ever going to leave a giant crater on your face. Don’t do it!), but washed my face even gentler than I would usually.

Ba da bing, ba da boom - clearer skin!

After only 3 days of doing it my skin feels smoother and looks healthier… when it’s not covered in sweat, that is.

High hopes for the rest of the week!

Okay, so I admit it right here and now - I didn’t do my workout this  morning.

Even though the tiny twenty minute workout has helped me feel all crazily energetic and awesome - it was just TOO tired.

Yesterday was my last day of work and I think I deserved a nice long lie-in.

So I did.

It isn’t the end of the world. The fact that I’ve exercised TWO times this week is flipping awesome.

They say that exercising just three times a week can help boost your fitness. So sunday morning I’ll give it another go.

In the  meantime - sleep is fantastic for you. Did you know that a good nights sleep can make your hair grow faster?

Yeah, neither did I. I think I might sleep-in more often!

Nothing makes you as beautiful as confidence.

The loveliest glow comes from feeling good about yourself, right with what you do, and optimistic about our world.

This is a list I found of ways you can get involved. In big ways, in little ways, in personal ways, in distant ways.. it doesn’t matter what you do or how you do it.

“If you can’t feed a hundred people, just feed one.” - Mother Theresa.

Each of these 50 help people.

Take a look, little swan.

  • JUST DO IT!…a little. Eat a teeny tiny bit of what you crave - It’ll give you taste you can’t stop thinking about and stop you from feeling denied! Denying yourself things just makes you want them more… Forbidden fruit, anyone? You always want what you can’t have!
  • Mix’N’Match. Sometimes the temptation is just too much, I hear ya. If you’re going to do the deed, make sure you mix it with something healthy! For example, if you’re a chocoholic - use chocolate as a topping or a dipping sauce for something healthy! Fruit in chocolate is flippin’ amaaaaazing and chocolate sprinkles work a treat on low fat yoghurt!.
  • Cold Turkey - and I’m not talkin’ about using poultry as a substitute. CUT IT OUT! Go 48-72 hours without what you crave for the first time, and cut it out of your diet for longer and longer periods of time as you go - slowly build up your tolerance to life without your love…So long without seeing each other…You thought you could never be together! If you’re THAT attached, write your love letters. Then you can have a steamy reunion in the rain, just like in The Notebook.
  • Distraction - Gum or fruit. Avoid giving in to the nagging of your crave and try chewing gum or eating a whole piece of fruit.. The fruit is packed with nutrients and fibre and should fill you up enough to not want anything else, and the gum’ll give you a fresh taste that will distract you from what you originally wanted… And mint makes everything taste funny afterward so you’ll steer clear of your craving. Also, waiting 20 minutes is enough time to tell whether your MIND is telling you that you want it, or your BODY. If you’re genuinely needing (the real definition of craving) the certain food for your body, you’ll still want it after twenty minutes.
  • Regular meals - What have I said? Lots of food, regularly! If you wait too long in between meals, or don’t feed yourself up enough when you DO eat, you’ll end up craving more - and your mind’ll tell you it should be chocolate. Or cheese. Plan your meals, prepare for hunger attacks with nuts or dried fruit… or real fruit…

Okay, so you’ve just overdosed on cookie dough (or pizza or pasta or chocolate or ice cream or champagne or Pina Coladas…).

We’ve all done it. It’s ok. Sometimes indulging in your sweet (or cheese) tooth is GOOD for you. Obviously, because you got to eat all that AWESOME STUFF.

Also, because now you know why you probably shouldn’t do it again.

Feeling sick? Sweating? Can’t seem to shake that headache?

It’s time to get rid of your hangover.

Your body is highly likely to be loaded with fats and toxins, causing problems with your digestive system and your blood sugar levels.

    A simple, and cleansing, fix?

This quick, easy, four day detox.

NOTE that the detox does NOT involve starving, or only eating cabbage/soup/lemon juice. Full balanced meals, like I’ve already said!

Getting all the gunk out of your system will leave you energised, alert,  and definately a little glowy!

    Ch-ch-check it out.
