I know, I know, trying to maintain a healthy balance in your diet SUCKS when

a)your friends have metabolisms like race cars and can eat entire pizzas and not get bigger,

or

b) your friends invite you out to dinner all the time.

Eating out can be laden with complex carbs (basically anything white, and which will do you no favours), fats, oils, and unnecessary loadings of sugar. But fear no more! Simple tips?

  • Don’t EVER choose buffets. All you can eat is too much of a temptation for ANYONE!
  • Scan the menu for things boiled or steamed. Steamed stuff is ridiculously healthy, doesn’t use any oils or gross things, and still keeps the flavour of your food!
  • Skip anything with cream sauces or gravy. They’re slippery slopes you can avoid!
  • DON’T TOUCH THE BREAD! - If they give you a bread basket, remind yourself you’re about to eat an awesome meal and don’t need to be filled up unnecessarily on stupid bread.
  • Drink lots of water throughout the meal. Like I said… thirst vs hunger. It’s a close battle.

So try those out for size, and remember that its all a balance! If you know you’re going to go out for dinner, have a smaller lunch! Just remember to cross off all the circles (vegetables, carbs, protein, dairy, fruits and fats)!
